It takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks for credit to appear on your University of Illinois record from the date the Office of the Registrar receives your foreign transcript and all course approvals.
Receiving Your Overseas Transcript
It may be several months before the Office of the Registrar receives your transcript from your program or institution abroad after you have completed your study abroad experience. The timing will vary depending on the program.
To avoid delays, notify your program or institution to send the original transcript directly to the Office of the Registrar at the following address:
Office of the Registrar
ATTN: Pam Santic, Assistant Registrar

How Your Study Abroad Credit & Grades Are Processed at Illinois
To avoid delay in processing of your courses, please review your course approvals upon return to determine if are any courses not on your pre-departure Course Approval Summary Form. If any were not approved, please have a Course Approval Summary Form completed for the courses with no approval and send the completed form to the Office of the Registrar. Once the transcript is received, the Office of the Registrar will review the transcript and the course approval forms. If there are missing course approval forms, the Office of the Registrar will email you to remind you of the missing course approvals upon receipt of your transcript. Once all the course approvals have been received, the Office of the Registrar can continue to move forward toward getting your college’s approval so that we can enter the courses into the Enterprise System.
After receiving your transcript and all course approvals, the Office of the Registrar will convert international credits and grades into the University of Illinois credit and grade equivalents using the approved Grade and Credit Equivalency scales. Your documents will be sent to your college office for signature and approval and thereafter to the Office of the Registrar to be entered on your permanent University record.
Please remember your foreign university transcript is part of your academic record. Every course on the foreign transcript must be processed, even if you do not need a course to satisfy your graduation requirement.
In addition, note that your University of Illinois transcript will list your study abroad courses with 388 (ie. BUS 388, HIST 388, ANTH 388). The 388 is not a course level. It only means that the course was taken abroad. Your college office will enter actual course equivalencies in your DARS Audit based on the information in the course approvals you provided.
