Refunds Due to COVID-19
If your study abroad program was cut short because of COVID-19, refer to this page to understand how your refund will be issued.
University of Illinois Leadership has approved a refund policy that applies to all students who studied abroad during the Spring 2020 semester. In order to process a study abroad refund to your student account, we will need you to complete the “Study Abroad Refunds due to COVID-19” form. Submission of this form is required no later than April 30 at 11:59 pm CST in order for your refund to be calculated.
After you submit the form, we will calculate your study abroad refund and notify you via your Illinois email. The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will be reviewing all refunds regardless of whether or not students are receiving financial aid. Once OSFA has reviewed your refund, it will be posted to your student account. If you have an outstanding balance in your account, the study abroad refund posted will be applied first to that outstanding balance. Any remaining balance will be refunded to the bank account on record with the University of Illinois.
We are trying to get through this process as quickly as possible. Unfortunately for students on payment plans, this may not happen before the April payments are deducted. We will not be able to reverse late fees, so please continue to make your scheduled payments.
We appreciate your patience and please be assured that any overpayment related to your study abroad program will be fully refunded.
